Location: Indiana Hi y'all, I work in a consulting framework, where all of my worked hours are either billed to a particular project, or are considered company overhead. Additionally, my position is considered "Full-time (40 hours per week)". As such, I am expected to be at my desk and available from 8:00 to 5:00. Some weeks, my bosses can't figure out anything for me to do. I have been billing the remainder of my time, it does not fall under any particular project, as company overhead. Well this makes some of the higher-ups unhappy, I'm not responsible for finding projects for myself. It is becoming standard practice that the lower rungs are expected to use their accrued PTO to fill some of the gaps in there when they have no other directive. This feels wrong to me, can we result in the newest employees who do not as consistently have billable work to use the entirety of their accrued PTO nearly every week. I have not yet gotten this in writing, but expect to sometime this week. As I understand it, a company CAN force me to use accrued PTO. This seems to be in relation to annual rollovers, or at least mandating that I take a particular amount every year. Is this a standard or accepted practice? Can it be applied in this circumstance?

Location: DJ lives in Indiana, wedding took place in Indiana, we live in Wisconsin. My now-wife signed a contract for a wedding DJ in 2023 for our summer 2024 wedding for $1000. $400 was due at signing, and was paid via Venmo. $600 was paid about a month before the wedding and was paid via credit card. We found him through a website that lists wedding vendors. On the morning of our wedding, we got an email from his email address claiming to be from his wife. "She" said that he had killed himself the night before, and was sorry but will get us a refund once she gets his finances in order. We thanked "her" for letting us know, and got phone quotes from 4 different local DJs to fill in for him last-minute. They were all around the same price, and we hired the cheapest one for $2200. We did not keep written record of the quotes, but I do have text message records from a friend saying that I would not need a DJ they suggested because his rate ($2500) was more expensive than one we found. I do have the phone call records proving I made these calls. The replacement DJ we got did a great job, and performed the same services we hired the original DJ to do. Location: Indiana As part of my job I am to maintain certain equipment for my company. A faulty item worth approximately $4,000 was reported to me by staff, I took a look, and performed my range of troubleshooting. I placed a warranty claim for the item. The vendor sent out their tech, confirmed it is faulty, and shipped a new replacement. I had the new replacement still sealed in box in my storage closet. Around this same time, my boss asked me how many of this same item need purchased for some new workstations being provisioned. I gave him the correct quantity, and that was the end of conversation. At some point, he must have came thru my office and saw the item new in box, subtracted it from my quantity to order, and directed contractors to install my warranty-replaced item in lieu of purchasing another, likely not knowing at the time of the story of this item, albeit not bothering to ask me. This is almost certainly done to save money. Here's where the problem lies: After I found out what happened, I informed him that item was slated for a warranty replacement. I told him we cannot use it as a new one, as it's replacing a faulty one at location xyz. He asked what's wrong with the faulty one, and I answered. Location: indianapolis indiana I've been corresponding with the indiana bmv central titling office for the past couple weeks trying to get my personally imported 2001 subaru sambar titled as a light truck (less that 11000 lbs) but they are fight me and refusing to accept any evidence that it does not meet their classification requirements and will only accept a letter from the manufacturer stating it is not a mini truck. I of course attempted to contact subaru about this and was told they do not provide such documentation. My main sticking point is that it clearly states on their website here ( https://www.in.gov/bmv/titles/special-titling-circumstances/mini-trucks ) that the vehicle must meet all requirements for a mini truck to be classified as one and my truck does not meet at least two that are easily verified. The first is that the dry weight must not exceed 1600 lbs and my truck clearly states on its export certificate from japan that it weighs 780kg (1719.6 lbs). The second qualification it doesn't meet is that it cannot have a top speed above 60 mph and I have gps data logs showing the vehicle driving down the interstate at 75mph when I was transporting it on a temporary tag to get a vin inspection performed. All of this should be enough for them to go ahead and title it as a light truck but they are refusing.
