New Bankruptcy Code Fact: Congress
passed new laws in October 2005, but very little has actually changed.. YOU CAN STILL FILE, AND OTHER THAN SOME MORE PAPERWORK,. YOU WON'T NOTICE ANY DIFFERENCE FROM THE PRIOR BANKRUPTCY LAW!!. Only changes outcome for 4% of filers.. Requires counseling before filing, which can be done over the phone in about one hour.. Requires education class after filing, takes about 2 hours, you can do it at home and
take a test on the phone or over the internet.. You need pystubs for the last 6 months.. You need the last two years state and federal income tax returns.. All tax returns need to be filed before your case is filed.. You must wait 8 years after filing a chapter 7 to file another chapter 7, it was 6
years before.. You can file a chapter 13 after a chapter 7 and don't need to wait.. Call my office to get phone numbers for the pre-filing counseling.

After receiving my J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota in the spring of 2011, and being admitted to the Minnesota Bar later that year, I returned to my home state of Oregon to begin my legal career.. By the time I had moved back to Oregon, the glut in the new-lawyer market made it difficult to find a job that I felt would provide the type of professional development I was looking for. My choice became clear. I would open my own solo law practice.. Before receiving my license to practice law in Oregon in the spring of 2012, I engaged in standard contract work to gain some experience and meet some new attorneys in the Portland area. Once licensed, I leased a shared office space and began looking for clients. The choice of location proved to be prophetic as I am now a partner in a firm with many of the attorneys with whom I shared my first office.. As it happened, the calls I initially received came primarily from residential tenants looking for assistance in various aspects of the landlord-tenant relationship. While not particularly lucrative, I gained invaluable experience that few new attorneys were able to achieve at that point in time.. I am now a partner with the law firm of Bodzin Donnelly Mockrin & Slavin, LLP. We've upgraded to a nice office in downtown Milwaukie where we practice family law, criminal defense, property law, and medical marijuana law (explained below).. While I still do some landlord-tenant work, my new focus is on medical marijuana law. In February of 2013, Oregon passed a law, to take effect in March of 2014, that would allow individuals to operate medical marijuana distribution facilities, or "dispensaries" as they are commonly called. I now provide legal representation to individuals seeking to establish grow sites or dispensaries. My firm also provides representation to individuals facing criminal charges related to possession, distribution, or manufacture of hemp, cannabis, and marijuana.. I love my job and I love working with people from all walks of life. My partners and I understand that your case is the most important case in your life. It is with this mentality that we pursue your case, and we expect nothing less from ourselves and, indeed, from our clients.. I look forward to hearing from you.

I grew up in Vale, Oregon. I went to school at University of Oregon where I became a Duck and recieved my bachelor's degree in Psychology. After college, I worked for three years as a residential counselor working with adjudicated youth with alcohol or drug addiction. I went to law school at Lewis & Clark. I recieved first place for best trial notebook and 2nd place for our Mock Trial Intraschool Competition.. I work mostly in family law. I enjoy working with modest means clients and clients who have limited funds. I love representing clients who otherwise might go without representation simply because they cannot afford a lawyer. I have a certificate in public interest law and hope to be a force for postive changes in the law and our community.
