Location: OR Can an Oregon landlord legally carry one tenant's security deposit over to a new lease with a different tenant without the original tenant agreeing to it? Does the fact that my partner continuously occupied the apartment mean my tenancy never legally terminated when I gave notice and moved out? If the new lease replaced my tenancy, when should the landlord have returned/accounted for my deposit? Would ORS 90.300's 31-day requirement or statutory damages potentially apply? The apartment is in Portland, if the additional Portland tenant protections make a difference. I'm mainly trying to figure out whether I have a legitimate claim for the $1,300 before formally demanding it back. Last year my parked and empty car was hit and the driver fled the scene without leaving his contact info. My dashcam clearly picked up the driver's face and license plate as he got into his truck, backed into my car, and drove off. I filed a police report and the police told me that in Oregon they don't offer license plate owner lookup results to the public, and that I need to go through my insurance and they will handle the lookup. So I filed a claim with State Farm and had my vehicle fixed (paying the $1k deductible). State Farm subcontracted subrogation of the claim to Wilber Group, and said I'd get my deductible refunded once the at-fault party paid up. A year went by, and I got a letter from State Farm saying that they're giving up on subrogation, and if I want my deductible back I'll need to sue the at-fault party. The letter did not however give me any info about the at-fault party. I contacted Wilber Group and asked for the name/address of the at-fault party so I could file a small-claims suit to recover my deductible, and Wilber Group told me their policy does not allow them to give out that information. I contacted State Farm and they told me the same thing, advising me to contact the Oregon DMV with the plate number. The Oregon DMV is not returning my emails. Location: Gresham, Oregon I served my ex a status quo order on July 14th and the order says not to — •hide the child/children from the other parent •not to interfere with the child’s usual schedule •allowing the other parents parenting time •not to leave the state or change the child’s place of address It is now August 9th and I’ve yet to get a picture of my daughter. On July 12th she factory reset her phone and left a note saying “I’m tired of the arguing, I want to co-parent like adults and I’ll reach out in due time” she left no address or contact information as to where my daughter will be. She then filed for custody and attempted to serve me on July 13th. In her petition she asked for 50/50 custody and no child support. She also used a P.O. Box as a mailing address so I have no clue where my daughter is at. The status quo was granted by a judge and was put in motion after he signed it. What can I do now? I have a hearing on the 19th of this month. Should I wait till the hearing? Or would I be able to file for contempt?

Location: Oregon. I worked for the same company all of last year, but halfway through the year they changed payroll providers. I received two W-2s, one from each payroll company. A $4,000 retention bonus appears to be included in the wages on both forms even though I only received it once. I checked my final pay statements from the old system and the first statement from the new one, and the same bonus seems to be carried into both year-to-date totals. I emailed payroll three weeks ago with screenshots. They replied that both W-2s came from their payroll providers and that I should “just enter both forms exactly as issued.” When I asked whether they could review the duplicated wages, they told me the numbers were already finalized. I haven't filed yet. What should I be asking the company for if the W-2 information is actually incorrect, and what records should I keep if they refuse to fix it?

Location: Oregon Partner and I got into a heated argument that led to him putting hands on me. Not looking for advice on leaving I’m aware of the severity of his actions. I’d like to leave without having the courts ruin his life. I called the police and made the report.. he was arrested despite the police being hesitant due to it being more he said she said. I didn’t have any marks on me. One child in a different room said they heard the conflict but didn’t see anything. He was booked and heals under assault 4 felony and harassment felony. Me and my kids were subpoenaed to court to see a grand jury and before it started I pulled the prosecutor of the jury aside and told him I was not assaulted and called out of fear because I believed it wasn’t a matter of if he was gonna hurt me but when. I said I truly believed I was doing what I needed to do to keep myself safe. I said I realize I’m incriminating myself by saying this… he waived his hand like that wasn’t anything I need to worry about…He then proceeded to dismiss me and my kids and canceled the jury.
