My mother is a terrible human being and he wants her to be unable to weasel her way in and have any control over anything. Location: Utah About two weeks ago, my husband and I had a new HVAC system installed by a national company. The installation cost just over $18,000. This morning we woke up without air conditioning. After running errands, we came home and I was immediately hit with a strong natural gas smell. The odor seemed to be coming from the newly installed unit. I used a soap-and-water solution on the gas fittings and immediately saw bubbles forming, indicating a gas leak. I called the fire department. They shut off the gas to our home and detected elevated levels of natural gas throughout the house. After I repeatedly called the HVAC company, they finally sent a technician out. He told us the leak was caused by a fitting that hadn’t been tightened during the installation. He tightened it and continued with the rest of the service call. As a parent of two young children, this has been extremely upsetting. I understand that mistakes can happen, but a gas leak feels like a serious safety issue with potentially dangerous consequences. Over the past two weeks, I’ve also been dealing with some unusual health issues, including significant redness and swelling in one eye (my eye doctor wasn’t sure of the cause) and extreme fatigue. I have no way of knowing whether these symptoms are related to the gas leak, but the timing has me concerned. Location: Utah I have been placed on administrative leave from my position at the county municipal shelter. I had a brief meeting with HR where there informed me they were preparing to potentially terminate. My boss has stated I have performance issues and have violated policy regarding euthanasia approval forms. My issue is I have been employed for three years, have never received any disciplinary actions, was not aware I was not meeting expectations, or that I was violating policy. Each euthanasia form that I was shown had been signed off and approved by my boss. Is it worth hiring an employment lawyer to seek guidance and have attend my loudermill hearing? I do not believe that there is a legal justification for termination. From an outside perspective would you feel I have a fighting chance of staying employed? My boss has been under investigation three times in the year she has been employed for the county, including hostile work environment complaints. I have also been informed from coworkers that she has told staff that she "does not employ criminals" and I will not be returning.

Location: Utah. I'm a 24 year old trans male, and independent. I need to get off my parents insurance in order for my hospital to let me have bottom surgery. I've been on my parents EMI plan since I was a kid, and EMI won't cover the surgery, but Medicaid will but only on the condition that it's my only insurance, I've called and confirmed this with both companies. My mom is the policy holder, fully aware of the situation, and the only one who can make changes to her policy. And she refuses to take me off of her policy no matter what against my will because she feels that would be enabling my behavior of pursuing surgery. Is this grounds to file a lawsuit against her? Ultimately I just want to get off her plan so I'm finally free to pursue surgery and never have to talk to her again. I don't know if legal action is an option here but I'll take it if it is.

Location: Utah My FIL was arrested earlier this year and is waiting for the defense and prosecution to either work out a plea deal or take the case to trial. Right now he is facing: 2 first degree felonies for Attempted Sodomy on a Child. 3 second degree felonies for Enticing a minor The background is that he was chatting with a man online who was actually an undercover cop. He agreed to meet up with him and the UC’s 13 yo Nephew for intercourse. When he arrived it was arrested and taken to jail. My FIL is a Canadian citizen who has been living in the United States since 1995 with legal permanent resident status. This is his first experience with any law enforcement, so my question is: Given the severity of his crime, what are the chances he is deported after his sentence is finished? Is he more likely to get deported if he pleads guilty than if he were to plead no contest or does that even matter?
